Curriculum Survey

Page history last edited by PBworks 3 years, 8 months ago

1. What course(s) do you teach?

2. In the past, for which research projects have you used the library?

3. Were/are students able to find materials successfully?

Here are the questions from my survey.

Please list any subjects you cover, that need more books, i.e. Native Americans-specific tribes

My class reads these authors in our literature book or I read to them.  List follow up books. For example, after Pat, reads Bunnicula, there is a rush for books by James Howe.

The math or science curriculum recommends these books:

This is a great book, our library should have it:

I would like to see these DVD’s in our collection:

I would like a set of these books for literature circles:

Does the library need more of certain types of books?  “I Can Read”, Graphic novels, Learn to draw, etc.  Please list:

The library should have these types of materials:  Audiobook collection, Books on tape.

Any other new ideas:

An idea when doing a major purchase, or when you are just starting at a school: devise a detailed survey more of the check-off type. Go through state content standards, district curriculum guides, or textbook teacher editions and pick out the major topics teachers are likely to need large numbers of books for, either for display in the classroom or student projects. For each elementary grade or middle school subject area, list these with check boxes. Ask teachers to check off those that they have kids do, and which need more materials. Provide space for teachers to provide details or add other topics. Sometimes grade levels or departments like to work together on this type of survey, since they understand that monetary resources are limited.
